Request for Information

I refer to your information request received by the Council on 11 January
2010 in which you request the following information:

. How much South Lanarkshire Council make from the recycling of
rubbish, ie, glass, cardboard, paper, plastic or any other rubbish
including metal?

The Council can give you the following information:

. South Lanarkshire Council does not receive an income from
recycled material. The material is handled as part of a waste disposal
contract and the materials suitable for recycling are extracted from our
co-mingled kerbside collection at a materials reclamation facility.

We have an internal panel (the review panel) to deal with complaints from
people who are not happy about the way that we have handled their
request. Staff not involved in the original decision will handle any
review.

If you want to complain, you can ask the panel to reassess our actions.
Please note that if you wish to complain, you must do so before 5 April
2010. You must explain why you are not happy when requesting a review.

bids for the provision of a waste disposal service on behalf of South
Lanarkshire Council.
