Recruitment And Redundancy In WBC 2006 - 2009

Spiffy of Wirral made this Freedom of Information request to Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council

The request was successful.

From: Spiffy of Wirral

14 January 2009

Dear Sir or Madam,

I request the following information:

1) How many council staff were recruited in all departments during
the period 2006 - 2008. What was their job title and renumeration
package (wages).

2) How many council staff were made redundant in all departments
during the period 2006 - 2009. Of those how many were paid a
redundancy or severance package and how much was each paid. If this
figure is not available please provide a total figure.

3) How many council staff were dismissed for misconduct, gross or
otherwise, during the period 2008 - 2009 and for what reasons. What
was their job description and renumeration package (wages). How
many of those staff received compensation and how much was each
paid. If this figure is not available please provide a total
figure.

4) How many council staff are estimated to be made redundant in
2009 and what departments will be affected. Will the redundancies
be as a direct result of cost-cutting measures to reduce council
tax liability on the residents of wirral. How much council tax is
estimated to be saved as a result.

5) How many council staff are estimated to be recruited in 2009 and
in what departments. What are their job titles and renumeration
packages (wages). If this figure is not available for individuals
please provide a total figure. By how much will this increase the
council liability for 2009 - 2010 for wirral residents. An estimate
is sufficient.

Thank you.

Yours faithfully,
Spiffy of Wirral

Good Afternoon,
Thank you for your email below, it is not possible to give you any
recorded information in answer to your questions below, as redundancies
are not made as a direct result of cost-cutting measures to reduce
council tax liability on the residents of Wirral.
Equally staff recruitment will not have a direct effect on an increase
or otherwise on Council Tax.
Yours Sincerely
