Dear Sir or Madam

Thank you for your request.

I can confirm that Ashford Borough Council offers both an exit
questionnaire and interview to staff that are leaving.

The questionnaire was redesigned in 2008. Under the heading 'Why are you
leaving Ashford Borough Council?' we offer 13 headings, one of these being
'other' where the member of staff can fill in another reason.

Not all staff choose to fill in the questionnaire, and they are free to
select as many boxes as necessary.

The ten most common reasons over the last year have been:

Better salary/benefits
Career progression
Retirement
Change in career
Work closer to home
Redundancy
Dissatisfaction with job
Problems with management
Moving/relocating from area
Higher/further education/ Emigrating (same number)
The ten most common reasons in the previous four years were:

Career advancement
Better pay
Better job
Redundancy
Lack of job satisfaction
Retirement
Leaving the area
Problems with management
Better conditions of service
Higher/further education
Kind regards

Susanna
