Dear Lancaster University,

Under duties arising from Section 71 of the Race Relations Act

the need to:

• Assess how their policies affect BME students and staff and
• Arrange to publish their policy, and the results of assessments
and monitoring.

Please provide me with:

A copy of the Race Equality Impact Assessment outcomes to

(a) Lancaster University's screening policies or legislative
proposals to determine whether they are relevant to race equality

(b) how policies identified as being relevant are fully assessed in
order to make sure they do not have adverse effects on any racial
groups

Dear Mr Sharif

I write further to your Freedom of Information request (id 683), for the
following information:

A copy of the Race Equality Impact Assessment outcomes to include:

(a) Lancaster University's screening policies or legislative proposals to
determine whether they are relevant to race equality

(b) how policies identified as being relevant are fully assessed in order
to make sure they do not have adverse effects on any racial groups

(c) the assessment outcomes in relation to Lancaster University's
grievance and disciplinary policies and procedures

At Lancaster University, Equality Impact Assessments are undertaken
according to the procedures approved by the University Senate, as attached
for your information. These impact assessments cover all aspects of
Equality, and therefore we do not hold a Race Equality Impact Assessment
as such. A sample Equality Impact Assessment form is attached, along with
the Equality Impact Assessment process flow chart and guidance, for your
information.

The University's grievance and disciplinary procedures and policies are
currently under negotiation with the trade unions, and therefore we are
not able to carry out Equality Impact Assessments for them as yet. These
employment procedures have been prioritised by University management, and
a full Equality Impact Assessment will be carried out for them as soon as
possible, as indicated in the attached EIA priorities list.

Therefore the requested information is not currently held by the
University.

Regards

Dr Hazel Hardie
