Rabbinical Commission for the licensing of Shochetim

Steve Elibank made this Freedom of Information request to Food Standards Agency

Food Standards Agency did not have the information requested.

From: Steve Elibank

18 March 2010

Dear Sir/Madam,

Please treat this as a request under the Freedom of Information Act
2000. It regards the Commission established under the Welfare of
Animals (Slaughter or Killing) Regulations 1995.

If your department is not, in fact, responsible for this subject,
please inform me of this fact, and the correct recipient, as soon
as possible.

— Who are the current members of the Rabbinical Commission for the
licensing of Shochetim, and which of the bodies listed by statute
appointed each of them?

— How many people have joined and left the Commission since its
composition at the beginning of 1995, who were they, who appointed
them and who replaced them?

— How many licenses has the Commission issued for each calendar
year since 1995?

— How many people currently hold licenses from the Commission?

Yours faithfully,
Steve Elibank

Dear Mr Elibank,
Please find below (you will need to scroll down), an email and letter
dated 14 April dealing with your request no.31010-9d3fa277.
As the FSA never received your request number 31010-9d3fa277, I wrote to
you (using the MHS reference no.31011-24ffe613 ) to state this last
Wednesday (14^th ). I also wanted to state that we had omitted to
explain in the MHS response letter of 25 March that the FSA and MHS have
always been treated as one body for FOI purposes, and, in fact, as of 1
April, the MHS has been merged into the FSA and its separate executive
agency status has been removed.
Kind regards,
Rosemary Cairns
