Dear John,

Thank you for your request for information dated 17 August 2010. I
apologise for the delay in our response, however I will now respond to
each of your numbered requests in turn.

1) Cost of purchase of the school and grounds and any other title/goods
relating to the whole purchase including administrative/professional costs
to negotiate and complete the purchase.

I can confirm that this matter has not yet been concluded. As a result
any administrative or professional costs relating to any negotiation are
subject to change. Furthermore as this matter has not yet been concluded
it is considered that cost information is currently commercially sensitive
and is exempt from disclosure in accordance with section 31 of the Freedom
of Information Act.

Although the City Council aim to be transparent and accountable to the
public, it is considered that disclosure of such information prior to
completion would be likely to prejudice the commercial interests of the
Council and the ability to obtain best value. However once completion has
taken place it is more likely that we could disclose more information. We
anticipate that further information could be disclosed by mid October.

2) Anticipated income from the school during its final year of being
privately funded.

Please see answer to question 1.

3) Proposed income from the disposal of this property when it is handed
over to become a State funded Academy in September 2011.

No decision on the future of this property has yet been made.

4) Please divide these expenditure and income figures by the current
population of Bristol to see what it will cost per head of population when
the Council is supposed to be cutting expenditure due to financial
constraints.

As these figures have not yet been agreed or finalised this calculation is
not possible.

5) Who in the Council is responsible for this transaction?
Name/Post/Department please.

Craig Bolt, Service Director for Education Strategy and Targeted Support,
Children and Young People’s Services.

This response should answer your request in full, however if you are not
satisfied with this response or wish to lodge an appeal against any
exemptions that may have been applied, you can do so by writing to the
Data Protection Officer at Bristol City Council Legal Services, The
Council House, College Green, Bristol, or [1][Bristol City Council request email]. Details
of the complaints procedure can be found at

If, after you have exhausted the council’s complaints procedure, you are
still not satisfied with the response you have received you have the right
to complain to the Information Commissioner, details of your right to
complain can be found at [3]http://www.ico.gov.uk/complaints.aspx

Dear Freedom of Information,

F.A.O. Stephen McNamara
For Head of Legal Services
Bristol City Council

According to the local press and television, the deal has been
concluded, the school has re-openned and children are being taught.
Therefore I am surprised that you say "this matter has not yet been
concluded" and follow on with exemptions to my query.

Who am I supposed to believe, You or the people of Bristol?

Would the Bristol residents and parents of children at the school
believe you ??

Yours sincerely,

John
