The June 2008 meeting of Cambridgeshire Police Authority resolved
to change the rules for public speaking at meetings of the
Authority.

It also resolved: "For the Media and Communications Officer to
ensure this that this new process was effectively “advertised” to
members of the public, in addition to a notice on the Authority’s
web site".

In light of this could you please release:

1. Details of how the changes have been advertised to the public.

2. A link to the notice placed on the Authority's web site.

3. The current, as amended, rules on public speaking at Authority
meetings.

In response to your first point, a press release was issued by the
Authority on 10 July 2008. A copy is attached. In addition all agendas
for Police Authority Committee Meetings, which are public documents, make
it clear that members of the public can ask questions or make statements at
those meetings.

With regard to your second point, this appears to be a suggestion, not a
request for information.

In response to your final point I attach a copy of the updated Standing
Order No. 6 which is an extract copy of that posted on the Authority's web
site.

My request for "A link to the notice placed on the Authority's web
site" was not a suggestion but a request for the release of
information. As I stated in my original request the June 2008
meeting of Cambridgeshire Police Authority resolved to require the
authority's Media and Communications Officer to place a notice on
the Authority's website describing the changes to the public
speaking rules. My request is an attempt to find out if this
officer has acted upon the Police Authority's resolution or not,
and if they have to enable me and others to find this notice.
