Good morning Mr Tebbs
Thank you for your recent request for information under the terms of the
Freedom of Information Act and I am pleased to respond as follows.
As a service, Parks and Countryside manage the City's parks on a
geographical basis rather than in terms of individual parks. Details of
maintenance expenditure for each of the four parks you mention is
therefore not available.
I enclose a copy of the Council***s compliments and complaints policy
should you wish to complain about the handling of your request for
information.
As required by s17 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I would also
notify you that you may apply to the Information Commissioner for a
decision whether, in any specified respect, your request for information
has been dealt with in accordance with the requirements of Part 1 of the
Act. The commissioner is not obliged to make a decision unless you have
exhausted the Councils complaints procedure.
The contact details for the Commissioner are F01/EIR Complaints
Resolution, Information Commissioner***s Office, Wycliffe House, Water
Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF or e-mail [email address].

Dear Mr Tebbs

Thank you for your follow up e mail dated 15 July in reply to our Freedom
of Information response. I apologise for the delay in responding to your
further enquiry which is an oversight on my part as I have been on annual
leave.

The information you asked for is detailed below and I am asked to advise
you that the two geographical areas Parks and Countryside work to are West
and North West plus East, North East and South. Detailed below are the
gross expenditure budgets for 2003/4 to 2008/9 for these areas. However,
it is impossible to disaggregate the specific maintenance costs for Parks
from these figures as they are inclusive of all horticultural maintenance
costs for the City (including works undertaken on behalf of Social
Services, Education etc).

East, North East and South West and North West
2008/9 7,239,000 4,512,170
2007/8 6,599,130 3,685,480
2006/7 6,452,130 3,304,200
2005/6 6,803,420 3,819,810
2004/5 6,936,480 3,236,340
2003/4 5,566,540 2,968,500

Unfortunately, we do not have the software needed to enable us to access
information pre 2003 which has been archived.

I hope you find this further information useful and once again may I offer
my apologies for the delay in responding.
