Dear Sir/Madam,

Proposed reorganisation of ASL Schools in Glasgow

I am writing to you regarding the above requesting the following
information:

All reports, formal/informal minutes of meetings/discussions,
internal/external correspondence, guidance and advice within/to
Education Department relating to the reorganisation of the ASL
Schools involved in the review from January 2007 onwards.

All reports, formal/informal minutes of meetings/discussions,
internal/external correspondence, guidance and advice to/from GCC
Departments (including Social Work. Legal and Estates) relating to
the reorganisation of the ASL Schools involved in the review from
January 2007 onwards.

Past 3 years actual spend for each school involved, broken down by:
Staff
Premises (recurring)
Premises (capital improvements)

Projected next 3 years’ budget for each school involved, broken
down by:
Staff
Premises (recurring)
Premises (capital improvements)

Past 3 years pupil & staff numbers for each school involved, broken
down by:
Full/Part Time Pupils
Management/Admin Staff, Teaching Staff and Assistants

Projected next 3 years’ pupil & staff numbers for each school
involved, broken down by:
Full/Part Time Pupils
Management/Admin Staff, Teaching Staff and Assistants

For the avoidance of doubt, I would stress that “Schools involved
in the review” is not limited to those for which reorganisation is
currently proposed but includes all those considered by the review
group in 2007.

The purpose of this request under Freedom of Information is to
ascertain whether the Council’s stated criteria under the Education
Estate Strategy 2009 to 2012 of “long term sustainable capacity and
clear educational benefits” is met by the proposed reorganisation.

I appreciate that the first two elements of the request may take
slightly longer than the cost/staff/pupil numbers as the latter
will have formed an intrinsic part of the review and will be
readily available. I am happy to receive the information in two
tranches.

Yours sincerely,

William Rutherglen
