Procurement process for new Downing St Website

A Freedom of Information request to Prime Minister's Office by Harry Metcalfe

The request was partially successful.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I'd like to know how New Media Maze were selected to produce the
new website at www.number10.gov.uk. What sort of
procurement/tendering process was followed? If there was an
opportunity for other companies to bid, how many did so? What was
the total cost of the work carried out?

Please could I also have a copy of the contract, between No. 10 and
New Media Maze, that applied to this work.

Yours faithfully,

Harry Metcalfe

Dear Mr Flanagan,

Thanks for your reply.

First; I find it difficult to believe that the costs of releasing
the total expenditure on this website would be so high as to
prejudice the public interest. I ask that you reconsider this
position.

There is profligate conjecture amongst bloggers and the online
community in general that this site cost in the region of £100,000
to produce. I find this extremely unlikely. It is surely in the
public interest to ensure, should this figure be incorrect, that it
is refuted.

Second; your reply does not mention the contract between New Media
Maze and the Cabinet Office. A part of my request was for that
contract. If this contract must be withheld, please let me know
which exception applies.

Yours sincerely,

Harry Metcalfe
