Procurement of Contractors and Construction Consultancy Services

In response to the FOI request below:

o Construction is not a service that we deal with as a District Council
o We use the Supplier Contract Management (SCMS) for all other
procurements see information below:

Thank you for your recent enquiry on doing business with Hambleton
District Council. We do not hold any approved lists of contractors, each
opportunity is advertised, or quotes obtained depending on the value of
the contract.

It is the policy of the Council to do as much business as possible by
electronic means to reduce the costs of administration and transaction
processing. This policy is in line with Central Government directives for
Local Authorities to make financial and efficiency savings by using
electronic methods.

Therefore, the Council now uses an electronic procurement system to run
quotations and tenders, which is also used by all 22 Councils in the
Yorkshire and Humber region. Suppliers can register their details free of
charge on the Supplier Contract Management System (SCMS) by visiting
[1]http://scms.alito.co.uk/ creating a username and password and entering
their details in to their company profile. Suppliers will then be notified
of any opportunities which arise which may be of interest to them.
