Dear Mr Richardson I am responding, and I apologise for the delay in not
doing so before now, to your request for certain information - due to
certain staff being away over the summer months and responsibilities
being internally reallocated it has proved difficult to identify who in
the University now has access to this data and who would be able to
compile a response - I now understand that a colleague will be looking
to compile a response to your request, on their return from leave, in
the second week of September.
Again I am sorry for both the delay and not informing you until now of
the actions that we were taking to respond to your request.
The University hopes to be in a position to be able to respond to you
shortly.
Yours Faithfully
Simon Gilling

Dear Mr Richardson
Further to your recent emails to the University Legal Adviser, Simon
Gilling and following his subsequent response, I confirm that I have now
been able to extract part of the information requested. My apologies
that our response is slightly later than anticipated due to the reasons
which Mr Gilling previously outlined.
The income from the purchase of Printer Credits for the three academic
years are shown below:-
2006/07 £162,535
2007/08 £160,316
2008/09 £181,698
Unfortunately, the University is unable to itemise the number of printer
credits purchased during these academic years, because we sometimes let
academic departments use them, for example if their own departmental work
area is being refurbished and we also give quite a lot of refunds when
prints have failed. We do plan to improve the system, but cannot currently
establish how many credits were free. The data is not held in the format
requested and would need to be extracted from our financial management
system via internal transactions and refunds. This would take
considerable resources and take the request outside the `free' limit for
FoI requests.
If you require further clarification, please do not hesitate to get in
touch.
Yours sincerely
