Prevent Programme

Maria Carolina Affonso Werdine made this Freedom of Information request to Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea

The request was partially successful.

From: Maria Carolina Affonso Werdine

24 May 2010

Dear Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea,

I am a research student at the London School of Economics,
currently researching the British counter-terrorism
programme. At the moment my focus is on the Prevent Programme in
London, and I was wondering if you could help me get some
information I need. Specifically, I would need to know:

1 - The most recent Prevent Budget for this Council
2- A list of organizations, societies, activities that receive
Prevent funding in the areas covered by the council.

3- Any action plan, or report on the Prevent programme that is not
readily available by the council website.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Yours faithfully,

Maria Carolina Affonso Werdine

Dear Maria

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST REF: 2010-338

I am responding to your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000,
which we received on 24 May 2010 for information held by the Council. You
requested:

1) The most recent Prevent Budget for this Council

2) A list of organizations, societies, activities that receive Prevent
funding in the areas covered by the council.

3) Any action plan, or report on the Prevent programme that is not readily
available by the council website.

The Council does not have a specific Prevent budget. We do however receive
a Prevent allocation within our Area Based Grant for this year totalling
-L-256,830. However this is not ring fenced specifically for Prevent work.
Most of it has simply been added to our overall budget for community
safety.

The Council is funding a wide range of projects that contribute, to a
lesser or greater degree, towards Prevent work but we do not separately
account for spending the non-ring fenced Prevent contribution towards our
Area Based Grant. As such we do not have a list of organisations that are
funded from it.

The attached report gives a good summary of current Prevent work

with a copy of the form.

Following this review, should you still be unhappy with how your

to the Information Commissioner who is responsible for ensuring compliance
