Dear Richard Taylor,
Freedom of Information Request
Further to your request of 26 January 2010, I am able to supply you
with the following information regarding access to elections counts
within this authority.
Access to Parliamentary and local election counts are subject to the
provisions of the Representation of the People Act 1983, which specify
who is entitled to attend. Media representatives and members of the
public have no automatic right of entry to the count and it is up to the
(Acting) Returning Officer to decide whether or not to allow them to
attend. All requests from persons not entitled to attend by right, will
be considered by the (Acting) Returning Officer, who has the final
decision on who is admitted. As in previous years, arrangements will be
made for members of the media to have access in Cambridge.
If you are not happy with the information provided or are not happy
with the way in which your request has been dealt with please contact
Liz Terry, Interim Director of Customer & Democratic Services. You may
also contact the Information Commissioner if you are still not happy
with the way it has been dealt with. The Information Commissioner’s
address is Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF
Sincerely,
