Dear Sir or Madam,
This is a request for information under the Freedom of Information
Act 2000.
In its eighth report of session 2008-09, the Business and
Enterprise Committee of the House of Commons said:
"105. There were two more unusual suggestions for government
services. Postcomm reports that postal voting services are handled
by post offices in Finland and suggests that this service might be
an opportunity for post offices..."
Please provide me with information about communications and work
the Commission has undertaken, if any, since the report's
publication to progress this idea.
Such information should be provided as copies of documents, in
electronic format.

dated 4 Ferbuary 2010. Your letter addressed:
In its eighth report of session 2008-09, the Business and Enterprise
Committee of the House of Commons said: "105. There were two more unusual
suggestions for government
services. Postcomm reports that postal voting services are handled by
post offices in Finland and suggests that this service might be an
opportunity for post offices..."
Please provide me with information about communications and work the
Commission has undertaken, if any, since the report's publication to
progress this idea.
The Commission aims to respond to requests for information promptly
and within the statutory timeframe of twenty working days. However, in
order to do so, we are requesting a clarification of your
request.
Could your request be clarified as below:
1) Has the Commission carried out any research into the capacity
of post offices to handle posting voting services?
2) Please provide any documents which consider the possibility of
implementing a postal voting system handled by UK post offices?
3) Have any of the points related to postal voting raised in the
Business and Enterprise Committee of the House of Commons's eighth report
of session 2008-09 triggered any action by the Commission?
Once your response is received your request will be considered and
you will receive the information requested within the statutory timescale
of 20 working days as defined by the Freedom of Information Act
2000.
