Dear Sam Urquhart

Thank you for your email requesting information under the Freedom of Information Act.

Your request is for details of any guidance given to the Metropolitan or City London Police forces by the Mayor, or members of his staff, in the two months preceding the G20 Summit concerning policing potential protests.

We do not have record of any such guidance.

The Mayor is also Chair of the Metropolitan Police Authority and he and his team meet regularly with both the Metropolitan Police and with the Metropolitan Police Authority. Leading up to the G20, these regular meetings would have included discussions about the Summit. Given the unique demands of policing the G20, the Mayor was in regular contact with the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis throughout the period. In addition, the Mayor and the Home Secretary had a joint meeting with senior Met officers ahead of the Summit.

Yours sincerely

Zoe Newcombe
Mayor's Office
