Dear Sir or Madam
I am writing to make an open government request for all the
information to which I am entitled under the freedom of information
act. In order to assist you with this request, I am outlining my
query as specifically as possible. If however this request is too
wide or too unclear, I would be grateful if you could contact me as
I understand that under the act, you are required to advise and
assist requesters.
Can you please provide me with information and full details of
Plymouth City Councillors (individuals) allowances and expenses
claimed for the last 3 years. I would like this information
supplied in the interests of openness and transparency that should
be provided to taxpayers by public servants.
I understand that under the act, I should be entitled to a response
within 20 working days. I would be grateful if you could confirm in
writing that you have received this request. I look forward to
hearing from you in the near future.

Thank you for your reply, I have noticed that councillor Aspinall
has (over the last 3 years) been consistently claiming on her
travel and subsistence expenses a lot higher than the rest of her
colleagues.
Can you supply details of the claims / expenses for the 3 year
period.

newspaper, The Evening Herald has today (Thursday 02 July 09) published
details of all claims by councillors including Cllr Aspinall. The
Evening Herald has placed the details in two reports on their website
(dated Wednesday 01 July 09). Both of these reports should assist in
your research.
