Dear Sir or Madam,
Having seen a previous FOI request by a fellow Colwyn Resident to
Conwy Council basically be redirected to Yourselves by them- please

Dear Info Regs Unit,
Sorry for the delay in reply, I mislaid the original newspaper
report. However I have now found it, and would refer you to the
article on page 7 of the North Wales Weekly News of September 4th
2008.
The article includes quotes from David Jones MP, and Councillors
Chris Perry and Gwyn Huges.
It states a public meeting to discuss the future of the pier was
being arranged for late September.
It also states the town council will also hold a special meeting to
discuss the pier in October.
Given the above, how can it be the Council has no information? If
the information is not held centrally, then I suggest you consult
the individual councillors and get copies of their files on the
matter. Councillors would not call for special meetings to discuss
a matter on which they had no notes whatsoever would they?
Yours sincerely,
Colwyn Resident

To whcih the original questions were
Dear Sir or Madam,
I recently read in the local papers that the Council intends to
take over Colwyn Bay Victoria Pier and restore it.
Please send a copy of any internal or external consultations,
studies, reports etc. the Council has regarding the future of
Colwyn Bay Pier. This should include the following:
a) How the pier fits in with the overall regeneration strategy for
Colwyn Bay that has already started in the town centre.
b) How the pier fits in with the proposed sea front regeneration
plans, and how it will fare with any other proposed new
developments along the promenade.
c) How much money has been allocated to the restoration of the pier
(or how much is likely to be allocated in the future) and how much
of that money is to come from local taxpayers and how much from
external sources (E.G. Europe, Lottery, etc.)
d) When works are expected to start and the likely timescale for
the pier to be fully restored and open to the public again.
e) How the future of the pier will be secured and funded long-term,
so that it is not allowed to become derelict again.
f) The kind of use proposed for the pier under the Council's
ownership. I.E. will it be aimed at attracting tourists and
therefore bringing money into the town and so indirectly
benefitting the local economy, or will it be used more for local
activities and groups thereby giving direct benefit to the local
community.
Being as It Is Colwyn Bay Town Councillors who made the quotes/were
present at the meeting, could YOU please provide any information
you have not just for the gentleman/lady who made the request but
for All the residents of The Bay.
Yours faithfully,
Colwyn Resident

Dear Mr Hall
I have been advised by the Information Commissioner's Office that Section 8
(1)(b) of the F.O.I. Act states that an application for information must
include the person's real name and address for correspondence.
Both a valid postal address (including a PO Box address) and a 'personal'
email address are acceptable but not a website/forum address.
Therefore, I would be grateful if you would provide me with a suitable
contact address.
The Town Council did debate the issue of the Pier at the meeting held on
16th February 2009. A copy of the extract from the minutes can be supplied.
However, hard copies of the minutes of all Council meetings are available at
the Town Hall and Colwyn Bay Library.
Under the Freedom of Information Act 2006, the Council may make a charge to
recover the costs on the following headings, printing, copying and postage.
A copy of these charges is available on request.
I trust that this clarifies the situation.
Yours sincerely
John Roberts
(Town Clerk)
