Dear Mr Young

Re your Freedom of Information Request - St George's Day - 104533

Thank you for your request for information which we received on 17 October. You asked us to 'provide information on what plans the Department of Culture, Media and Sport has to celebrate St George's Day in 2009, and whether any budget for the celebrations has been discussed.'

I am handling your request under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act.

The Department flies the St George's flag alongside the Union Flag on St George's Day, and plans to do so again in 2009. This incurs minimal costs for the raising of the flag.

If you need any help or advice or have any questions about this letter, please contact me (Public Engagement and Recognition Unit) on 020 7211 6919 or [email address]. Alternatively, please write to me at the address below. Please quote the above reference number in any communications.

Yours sincerely,

Daniel Halpern
