Dear Mr Walker
In reference to your FOIA request appeal received 21 December 2009, could you clarify the following point:
- for each exemption cited in our response, could you state why do you disagree with the application of the exemption
Please note that the voluntary timescale of 28 days as defined in our Code of Practice will be suspended until such time as we receive clarification of your appeal. Once that is received, the clock will recommence, your appeal considered, and you will receive a response within the stated timescale.
Yours
Raymond Scott

Dear Scott Raymond Mr (ISD),
It is about time that the UEA started answering FOI questions.
s.12(1), Appropriate limit exceeded
Does your email system not have a search facility to allow for easy retrieval of archived emails?
s.31(1)(a) & (b), Disclosure would prejudice detection of crime & the apprehension of criminals
The criminals you refer to are, I assume, the staff at the CRU who are behind the global warming fraud.
I can't see how disclosure of this information would affect any police investigation..
s.36(2)(b) (ii) - Prejudice to the conduct of public affairs
It is their deliberations that I wish to find out about.
s.40(1), Personal information
Then redact it.
Yours sincerely,
John Walker
Dear University of East Anglia,
Below is the text of a message sent to me ref these FOI requests and your reluctance to answer them.
"
NASA have released some emails in response to American FOIA
requests here:
http://www.judicialwatch.org/news/2010/j...
Although it's a different juristiction and different legislation,
the fact that they, as a scientific organisation, have been
prepared to release such material coould undermine UEA's refusals
under S.36(2)(B)(ii) Prejudice to the conduct of public affairs -
Release of the requested information, would inhibit the free &
frank exchange of view for deliberation
If release of similar emails by a US body is possible then any
scientist working in an international discipline can reasonably
expect to have emails released because it's in the nature of their
discipline that many of their emails are copied internationally.
The UEA objection can't be applied as retrospective protection -
release of emails can't possibly prevent free and frank exchanges
that have already taken place.
Now that the possibility of release has been established in the US,
release under our law imposes no inhibition for future "free and
frank exchange" above that which already exists by virtue of the
American decision.
"
Yours faithfully,
John Walker
Due to a family bereavement, I will be absent 8-21 January inclusive. During that time, if you could direct all Freedom of Information Act & Data Protection Act correspondence to [University of East Anglia request email]<mailto:[University of East Anglia request email], it will be read & acknowledged there. Arrangements are in place for work to continue in my absence and we will continue to meet our statutory obligations during this time, but there may be minor delays for which I apologise in advance.
Dear Mr Walker
Further to your email of 21 December 2009 and clarification of 14 January 2010, please find attached further information regarding your request received 21 November 2009. Feel free to contact me if you have any further queries.
Yours
