Dear Sir or Madam,

I would like to make a request in accordance with the Freedom of
Information Act (FOI).

During the period 01 January 2007 to 01 January 2009:

1. How many Pet Shop Licences were issued?

2. How many Dangerous wild animals licences were issued?

3. How many Dog breeding licences were issued?

4. How often are inspections carried out in relation to these
licences?

5. Have any pet shops been investigated due to complaints, and poor
Animal Welfare Conditions? If so, what was the outcome?

Dear Mr. Casey ,

I refer to your FOI request and will answer the questions you posed in the
order listed by you , so far as they relate to the licensing enforcement
remit of East Dunbartonshire Council . Please note that all answers are
relevant to the period specified , being 1/1/07 to 1/1/09.

1) How many pet shop licenses were issued ?
A ) Five

2) How many dangerous wild animal licences were issued ?
A ) None

3) How many dog breeding licences were issued ?
A) One

4) How often are inspections carried out in relation to these licences?
A ) In relation to pet shop licenses , one announced visit per year is
undertaken ; in addition to the shop premises being visited as part of our
planned programme of inspections. All dog breeding establishments and
animal boarding establishments are subject to at least one announced visit
and one unannounced visit per year.

5) Have any pet shops been investigated due to complaints , and poor animal
welfare conditions ? If so , what was the outcome ?
A ) No complaints about pet shops were reported to this department during
1/1/07 to 1/1/09.
