Dear Mr Lister,
Thank you for your request.
In order to help us take your case forward I would be grateful if you could specify exactly what information you are looking for, and narrow your search by timeframe or to units within the Cabinet Office. The request as it stands is too broad and will exceed the cost limit.
The Freedom of Information Act gives access to recorded information held by the public authority, but where requestors make broad requests it may not be possible to process the request if the estimated cost of complying exceeds an appropriate limit. The appropriate limit has been specified in regulations and for central government is set at £600. This represents the estimated cost of one person spending three and a half working days in determining whether the department holds the information, and locating, retrieving and extracting the information.
I hope this is helpful. I propose to take no further action until I hear further from you.
Kind regards,
Yasmine Edwards
