Dear Sir or Madam,
As you may be aware, the documentary Confessions of a Traffic
Warden is due to be broadcast by Channel 4 this evening at 9pm.
The director of the program, Ollie Lambert, has stated in a
Telegraph article (as can be found
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/r...)
that “The experience of myself and the Channel 4 production team
found there was an ingrained culture at all three Westminster bases
in which CEOs believed “high scoring” wardens were routinely
rewarded with overtime and more lucrative shifts.
“Only one CEO was prepared to make these allegations on camera, but
many CEOs felt that this practice was rife, and many confirmed it
off-camera.”
He added that Channel 4 had conducted its own private
investigation, which resulted in ten signed statements supporting
the claims made by the CEO about the existence of ticket targets,
and the link between NSL awarding overtime shifts to CEOs who meet
ticket target expectations.
In that same article Councillor Danny Chalkley, Westminster's
cabinet member for city management, said: "Westminster council does
not set targets for the number of tickets issued by parking
attendants and has not done so for over five years. Any evidence to
suggest otherwise will be fully investigated."
I would class ten signatures backing up a statement as "any
evidence".
In light of the above, please answer the following questions
1) When will Danny Chalkley be launching a full investigation?
2) Which INDEPENDENT body will be carrying out this investigation?
I ask this as there is an obvious conflict of interest if the
investigation is to be carried out by Danny or Westminster City
Council.
I look forward to your prompt response.

Dear Tanya,
Thank you for your reply. Can please advise me on what would
constitute substantial evidence (as i take from your reply that
Cllr Chalkley doesn't feel the producers comments can be classed as
evidence), and who would be the best person to submit this to?
Yours sincerely,
Ben Tweedy
