Parking Transactions
Ben Tweedy made this Freedom of Information request to Westminster City Council
The request was successful.
From: Ben Tweedy

Dear Westminster City Council,
Please can you provide me with a total number of parking
transactions (Car parking and Motorcycle parking) you receive in an
average month. If information is not available for an average
month, please give me the total amount of transactions for
September 2009. I would also like to know the amount of money
received from parking transactions for that same month (be it an
average month or September 2009,).
I have presented an example below....
Total parking transactions (Motorcycle and Car parking) average per
month = 100,000
Total amount of money received from parking transactions (for the
same month obviously) average per month = £400,000.
Please note that I am only interested in figures for transaction
where a motorist or motorcyclist has paid to park by phone.
Regarding total amount of money received from parking transactions,
I am only interested in money received from people paying to park,
not money received from issued PCN's/Fines.
Yours faithfully,
Ben Tweedy

Dear Westminster City Council,
The response has been delayed, yet again, and you are now, yet
again, breaking the law. You should have responded by the 16th
February 2010 at the latest.
Please furnish me with the information i asked or update me with an
expected completion date by the end of today.
This is the 3rd FOI request i have made which has been left

I'm gonna have to get a courier now to send this all over to the
ICO, theres so much.
Yours faithfully,
Ben Tweedy

Dear Customer Relations,
In your last email to me you said "Please be assured that we will
endeavour to respond to you in full at the earliest possible
opportunity."
I am still waiting for this information, it is already delayed and
as such you are breaking the law. Please hurry this along, the ICO
has a very large backlog of complaints about WCC and your disregard
to the law and i wouldnt want to increase their workload further.
Yours sincerely,
Ben Tweedy

Brilliant! Just worked out the Verrus, the Canadian provider of the crappy pay by phone system get paid just over £200K (yeah thats right, £200,OOO) in an average month from Westminster City Council. Way to go Danny and Alistair, real value for the tax payer. No wonder they're so pushy on Partnerships (should read Prats) in Parking.
