30 June 2008

Dear Sir or Madam,

I have recently received information from East Dunbartonshire
council that the scheme known as the 'Parent Alert Scheme', as
outlined in the document 'East Dunbartonshire Anti Social Behaviour
Strategy 2005 - 2008', is in fact operated and delivered by
Strathclyde Police. I therefore submit this Freedom of Information
request to Strathclyde Police, as advised to do so by East
Dunbartonshire Council. The relevant correspondence can be publicly
viewed at http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/pa...

I wish to request information pertaining to the operation of the
'Parent Alert Scheme', as outlined in the document 'East
Dunbartonshire Anti Social Behaviour Strategy 2005 - 2008'.

i) Please provide a list of 'known disorder areas', and any
documents held which relate to how these areas were decided upon.

ii) What legislation permits for 'community police officers' to
disturb and interfere with activity which is not criminal in
nature?

iii) What legislation permits the release of information to the
parents concerning the whereabouts of the child?

iv) How is information concerning the contact details of the
parents provided to the 'community police officers'?

v) What legislation permits the disturbance of parents by
'community police officers' informing them of the location of their
child?

vi) What records are kept of such incidents, for how long, and for
what purpose?

vii) Which local businesses have contributed cellular
communications devices to this initiative?

Yours faithfully,

Barry Jones
