Dear Sir or Madam,
Under the Freedom of information act please can you let me know the
number of working days lost each year for the past 10 due to
"stress, anxiety and depression". Please also include the total
working days which were available for your workforce for each year.
Also please can you let me know how many employees for each were
retired on the grounds of ill-health each for the past 10 years.
Please separately state dismissals in this as well where ill health
was brought up as a factor.
Yours sincerely,
S. James

Dear Linda (CS, Human Resources),
Again, the first document I couldn't read but I could get the
second one. On answer to one of my questions you wrote:
----
Ill health retirements as a percentage of the workforce have been
published as a Best Value Performance Indicator (BVPI) from 2000/01
when it was introduced until 2007/08 when BVPI's were no longer
collected for statutory purposes and I attach the published results
for your information.
The workforce statistics for the corresponding years (as FTE) were;
2000/01 9,630
2001/02 10,039
2002/03 10,474
2003/04 10,682
2004/05 11,146
2005/06 11,718
2006/07 12,092
2007/08 12,172
------
Please can you clarify these figures?
When I was 8 in primary school I always remember doing maths and
the teacher would put big X's beside things which weren't clarified
propery?
She'd say "10 - what?, Loaves of bread? fish? apples? banana's?
potatoes?"
In this case what are these figures?
eg 9,630 in 2000 - what?
Please can you get clarification on these figures for me.
Yours sincerely,
S. James

Dear S James
FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 - information request concerning the number of people signed off work with depression
Dear S James,
Thank you for your further enquiry, please accept my apologies for the delay in responding to you.
Although I understand your opening question and have responded to this, unfortunately I do not understand the rest of your email referring to when you were in primary school.
I can only confirm that WCC does not hold the number of employees who have retired as a 'people' figure, however we do hold this information as a percentage of the Workforce and so I have provided you with this figure for each of the years that we have produced it, and to assist you in calculating the figure you have requested I have provided you with the total workforce figure for the same years.
Please note when you do your calculation the resultant answer figure may not be a whole number as the percentage figure would have been rounded up or down accordingly in the first instance.
Kind Regards,
Bridget Clark
