Number of graduates and number of requests for verification of qualifications

Dear Mr Fawcett,

I acknowledge receipt of your Freedom of Information Request received by
this office on 27^th April 09 in which you requested information
concerning graduates from the University.

As outlined in the FOI Act you can expect to receive a response to your
request within 20 working days starting the day after receipt. Therefore
we will respond to you no later than 27^th May 2009.

There may be occasions we are unable to meet this deadline. Under these
circumstances we will inform you at the earliest opportunity and give you
a revised date for response.

In some circumstances a fee may be payable and if that is the case, I will
let you know. A fees notice will be issued to you, and you will be
required to pay before we will proceed to deal with your request.

Some requests may also require transference, whether in whole or in part,
to another public authority to answer. Again you will be informed if this
is required.

Dear Mr Fawcett,

I write with regard to your FOI Request received recently by this office
in which you asked for information concerning the number of student who
had graduated in the last number of years.

As you may be aware we provide undergraduate, postgraduate and
professional courses and, for example, with a Masters Degree, the student
might not complete the Masters but if they have finished the required
number of modules, they may "graduate" with a post-graduate certificate of
diploma. They may even return to their studies at a later date and
"graduate" at a higher level then.

Therefore I would be grateful if you would contact me to clarify your
requirements so that I can ensure any information provided is to your
satisfaction. If you wish to discuss further please contact me on the
number below.

Dear Mr Fawcett,

I write with regard to your Freedom of Information request received by
this office on 27^th April 2009 in which you requested information
concerning awards made by the University and the number of enquiries made
about these awards by 3^rd parties.

With reference to your questions 1-3 please see the attached statistics
contained within the spreadsheet for the years required.

With reference to your questions 4-6, unfortunately we do not maintain a
total for the amount of requests of this nature received across the
University in each year. Therefore for the purposes of the Act I conclude
that the information is not held.

I hope this satisfies your query, I attach the University of Wales,
Newport Freedom of Information Complaints Procedure should you feel
dissatisfied with this response or the way in which your request was
handled.
