Mr MacRae,

In your email of 8 January to our Central Enquiry Unit you asked for
information by region about the total number of "successful" applicants
under Land Managers Options for the code LMOELP, Management through
electronic data management for Agriculture, and what percentage of farmers
that represents.

There is no approval process for LMOs - applicants apply for their chosen
options and in the case of this and other capital options, submit a claim
form the following May. Provided they comply with the rules and
regulations they are eligible to be paid.

Please note that the LMO Management through electronic data management for
Agriculture option can be used to purchase (a) Electronic recording
equipment for livestock and (b) Precision farming equipment. So the
LMOELP applicants need not have chosen to purchase electronic ear tags.

The table below gives the number applying for LMOELP 2008 and 2009 and
those applicants as percentages of those who submit a Single Application
Form (SAF) and of those, the number applying for LMO (and its predecessor,
Land Management Contracts Menu Scheme).

I hope this is helpful.
