Dear Department for Work and Pensions,
I am using FOI process to request the following information
1. What is the number of Employment Support Allowance claimants
with mental health conditions, to date, who have failed the ATOS
medical Assessment compared with those claimants presenting with
physical health problems?
2.What is the number, to date, of complaints received by ATOS
Medical Services and DWP in regard to the operation of the new
medical assessment process as operated by ATOS?
3. Can you confirm that ATOS Medical Services are not given
incentives of any sort by DWP, to reject potential ESA claimants
Yours faithfully,
Stephen Brisco

Dear DWP Adelphi Freedom-of-Information-Request,
My original request for information on "Number of ESA benefit
claimants with mental health issues rejected at assessment stage
compared with those with physical ailments" is now long overdue,
and by law you should have responded long before now. I formally
request an internal review to determine why a response has not been
forthcoming.
Yours sincerely,
Stephen Brisco

Neville Topham left an annotation ( 9 June 2010)
This is a book updated at 10 yearly intervals which is Globally recognised as the bible of the Psychiatry profession and even with the widest interpretation of English would give no credence to the descriptors used to assess the way in which ones condition as having any factual basis.
In addition I have tried without success to establish the status placed on DWP submissions, from my limited understanding of the Law this must be Material Evidence which must be proven, if they suggest that they do not treat it as that status then it is questionable if the DWP decision can be treated as having any factual basis.
