Dear Ms Daley
I am sorry you are having problems understanding the figures I have supplied; if you would like to contact me I will be happy to explain the figures.
I am afraid your request for a total figure for the number of children who have a protection plan in place due to neglect or abuse is not so straightforward as might at first seem. The number of children subject to a Child protection Plan changes daily and, though we do initial checks when a child enters the system, we do not keep an updated list, so information you have requested does not exist in a easily accessible format. To collate this information would require a trawl through individual case records.
I am though able to provide the following figures for newly Elective Home Education pupils who have deregistered from school between March 1st 2009 - 31st August 2009 in Cheshire East. Five were already known to social care prior to becoming EHE.
No of known pupils who became Known to Social Care Section 17 Section 47
EHE March 09 - Aug 31st 2009
25 5 2 3
The results are for Cheshire East only.
Due to my previous holiday commitments I have not been able to respond to your message of 11th September before today. I apologise for this.
Should you wish to discuss this matter further please feel free to contact me.
Yours sincerely
