Dear Ms Daley
I am responding to your recent Freedom of Information request regarding
home educated children and care plans on behalf of Sheffield Local
Authority. The response has been provided by the Information Systems team
and the Access and Provision team in the local authority. The responses
are as follows:
1. Number of electively home educated children known to your LA. 147
2. Number of electively home educated children who have a care plan
in place due to concerns of abuse. 1
3. Total number of all children in your LA . 69157 (This figure represents
the number of children in local authority nurseries, primary, secondary
and special schools at the time of the annual school census, January 2009)
4. Total number of children who have a care plan in place due to
concerns of abuse. 887
