Dear Ms Daley,
Further to your request for information home educated children, I write to
ask for clarification of some aspects of your request. I apologise for the
delay in getting back to you.
Where you have referred to care plan, please confirm whether you mean care
plan or child protection plan. Only children who are in the care of the LA
will be subject to a care plan, where there are concerns of abuse some
children will be subject to a child protection plan.
The Freedom of information Act 2000 allows the council 20 working days in
which to respond to information requests. However, the "clock" stops when
we need to seek clarification in order to locate or identify relevant
information. Once we have received the requested clarification, I will
proceed with your request.

Dear Ms Daley;
Further to your request for information about electively home educated (
EHE) children, I can tell you the following:
1. Number of electively home educated children known to your LA.
The council currently has 76 children listed as EHE. As there is no legal
requirement for families to register this information, this number
reflects the information held by the council.
2. Number of electively home educated children who have a care plan in
place due to concerns of abuse.
The council is not aware of any cases where there are any current care
plans in place, relating to concerns of abuse, for existing EHE However
there have been 2 cases where involvement of a social care professional
has been recorded.
3. Total number of all children in your LA
The total number of children recorded in the borough is 60,414
4. Total number of children who have a care plan in place due to concerns
of abuse - 188
