Dear Ms Hunt,

Thank you for the information but I am a little surprised. I
understand that in your submission to Graham Badman's review of EHE
in January Kent stated that the number of EHE children was 694 but
here it is listed as 1004.

Have you had a huge surge in home educating families or have you
perhaps given me figures for children educated otherwise than at
school rather than electively home educated children?

Yours sincerely,

Lynn Daley

Dear Ms Daly

The information we provided for question 1 includes all children with a
relevant open referral of 'educated at home'. This mean that 16 and 17
year olds with open referrals are included in the total (there were no
age group specifications in your original request). We believe that the
figure you refer to did not include the figures for 16 and 17 year olds.
We have attached (with the spreadsheet) a breakdown of the total by age,
which we hope will clarify this.

Whilst we were reviewing the figures, we found that the answer to
question 2 had been misinterpreted. The number of home educated
children with a care plan is 0. Please accept my apologies for this and
I hope it has not caused any inconvenience.

If you are unhappy with this response, and believe KCC has not complied
with legislation, please ask for a review by following our complaints
