Number of complaints
D Rowland made this Freedom of Information request to North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust
The request was partially successful.
From: D Rowland
2 December 2009
Dear Sir or Madam,
Under the Freedom of Information Act, I would be grateful if you
could provide me with details of the number of complaints against
the North West Ambulance Service for this year, and the last five
years.
I would like to know how many of those complaints were for personal
injury, how many of them asserted assault on the part of the
ambulance service, and the percentage that were settled, either in
or out of court.
I would also like to know how much money the NWAS has paid out in
respect of these claims.
Yours faithfully,
D Rowland

Dear North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust,
By law you should have responded promptly to my freedom of

It is now 28th January and so far I have had no response.
Please respond to my request immediately.
Yours faithfully,
D Rowland

Dear North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust,
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of
Information reviews.
I am writing to request an internal review of North West Ambulance
Service NHS Trust's handling of my FOI request 'Number of
complaints'.
My request has not been dealt with promptly or at all, and
certainly not within the time limit set down by law, despite the
fact I sent a previous reminder on 28th January.
I am sure the request was received correctly as the address to
which it was sent was fully checked out following a number of
failed attempts previously.
A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is
available on the Internet at this address:

Yours faithfully,
D Rowland

The only piece of information that was supplied related to the number of complaints so far this year (in excess of 450).
It seems very convenient that they don't keep statistical (and potentially damning) information handy, as then they can avoid having to answer FOI requests.
Things to do with this request
- Add an annotation (to help the requester or others)
- Download a zip file of all correspondence
