New road layout at Hatherley Crescent-
Roy Vickery made this Freedom of Information request to Bexley Borough Council
The request was successful.
From: Roy Vickery
6 July 2010
Dear Bexley Borough Council,
The road layout at the junction between Hatherley Crescent and
Faraday Avenue has recently been changed. I accept that the
junction needed to be widened for traffic turning left from Faraday
Avenue into Hatherley Crescent but the traffic flow has not been
helped by the creation of three lanes instead of two. Neither has
the appearance of the island been improved by what appears to be an
unnecessary reduction in the grassed area. The improvements to the
pavement in Faraday Avenue could have been simpler and less costly
but, I suggest, just as effective.
I would like to know the cost of the project and the whole
rationale behind it.
Yours faithfully,
Roy Vickery
(Faraday Avenue resident)

Dear Mr Grosvenor
Thank you for your letter of 20 July 2010 and for the sketch of
planned adjustments to the road layout. The works you have done now
make sense and the final position should improve traffic flow and
road safety. I understand from Gordon Kiley that the second phase
of the project could not begin immediately because of the works
being carried out to the gas mains in Station Road.
Yours sincerely,
Roy Vickery
