Dear Mark Coram,

Many thanks for your reply. There has been an esrc study recently
that identifies that there has been no scrutiny of the Ombudsman
since about 1989, and that their accountability urgently needs
review.

There is also a question following the Collaboration between
Ombudsmen Regulatory Reform Order that the appointment of the
Ombudsman should have been examined by the Public Administration
Select Committee whilst the appointment of the Deputy Chair of the
Commission for Local Administration in England fell only at the
door of the CLG Select Committee.
