Dear Mr Farnet,
FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 (FOIA) - INFORMATION REQUEST
The City of London (CoL) acknowledges receipt of your request for
information of 30 July 2010.
Public authorities are required to respond to requests within the
statutory timescale of 20 working days beginning from the first working
day after they receive a request. The Act does not always require public
authorities to disclose the information which they hold.
The FOIA applies to the CoL as a local authority, police authority and
port health authority. The CoL is the local and police authority for the
"Square Mile", ie the historic City of London, and not for London as a
whole. Please see the following link to a map on the CoL's website, which
shows the area covered:
[1]www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/Corporation/maps/boundary_map.htm.
The CoL's port health authority functions extend beyond the City boundary.

Dear Mr Farnet,
FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 (FOIA) - INFORMATION REQUEST
Following your request for information of 1 August 2010 and our
acknowledgement of 2 August, the City of London (CoL) responds as follows.
You requested a list and copies of internal documents proposing savings
opportunities to meet new Government cuts. The most recent Government
announcement was in June 2010 relating to £6.2 billion of Public Spending
Savings in 2010/11. Please find attached copies of three internal
documents, a pdf document entitled `Government Cuts - COLC 2010/11 Budget
Implications' with the associated pdf spreadsheet that details the impact
of the cuts and a third pdf document entitled `Note on Local Government's
Contribution to £6.2bn Public Spending Savings in 2010/11'.
<<Doc 1.pdf>> <<Doc 2.pdf>> <<Doc 3.pdf>>
You will be aware that the future funding of the public sector is highly
uncertain at this time. We await two future Government public
announcements. The Spending Review will be published on 20th October 2010
and the Formula Grant to each Local Authority in December 2010. It is not
until the level of Formula Grant is known that the 2011/12 budget can be
prepared and approved. Here is a link to the Council budgets and spending
webpage 'Council budgets and spending'
