Thank you for your recent Freedom of Information request received on 13
March 2009.

You requested the following information:

1) Which council run cemeteries has a Muslim section, and/or accommodates
Islamic burials?

The London Borough of Islington owns Islington cemetery and Trent Park
cemetery. Islington cemetery accommodates Islamic burials. It has no
separate Muslim section. Trent Park cemetery has a designated Muslim
section.

2) If any, when (WHICH YEAR) were the Muslim sections established, or
policies to accommodate Islamic burials implemented?

There is no Islington council policy concerning Islamic burials.
Islington cemetery is multi denominational and open to all. Trent Park
Cemetery in Cockfosters has a designated Muslim section which was
established in 2002.
