Janet Ryan in the Adult & Community Services Department will arrange for the information to be provided to you no later than 16/04/09.

Your request for information about Islamic burials has now been considered
and the information is below;

1) Which council run cemeteries have a Muslim section and/or
accommodate Islamic burials in your borough?

There is a Muslim section in Eastbrookend Cemetery

2) If any cemeteries do, which year was this Muslim section
established, or the policy of accommodating Islamic burials implemented?

The first burial in the Muslim section of Eastbrookend Cemetery was in
August 2003 this section is still in use, before this there was a Muslim
section in Rippleside Cemetery which opened in January 1979 and was
completely full in February 2003.
