Misleading data

Tony made this Freedom of Information request to Office for Standards in Education

The request was partially successful.

From: Tony

10 December 2008

Dear Sir or Madam,

I make this request under the FoIA 2000.

Christine Gilbert confirmed today in Parliament that her
Inspectorate was deceived by Haringey who misled its inspectors by
hiding behind false data.

What sanctions are available to OFSTED in relation to the
presentation of false data to inspectors in a deliberate and wilful
way?

Is it acceptable to OFSTED that an authority deliberately presented
false data to it during the course of an inspection?

If not what do they usually do about this deplorable state of
affairs?

Does OFSTED "believe" and not "inspect" all of the time?

Yours faithfully,

TONY

Dear Sir or Madam,

Please regard the questions as general correspondence if you think
that appropriate. However I am very concerned that a public service
regulator can be deliberately misled by such a vital public and
statutory authority such as Children's Social Care. Consequently I
wish to know what will be done about this and what can be done. As
Baby P died due to the incompetence and worse at Haringey Council
such compliant and cosy regulation, admittedly due to deceit from
the Council, could have enabled another Baby P at any time.

Basically I want to know what OFSTED intends to do about this
deplorable state of affairs. To state that the evidence has been
deleted is not enough. The witness testimony of the actual
inspectors is still available.

This is a vital public interest issue because millions now have
serious concerns about compliant, cosy and not fit for purpose
public sector regulation.

Regards,

TONY.

Yours sincerely,

Tony

16 December 2008

Dear Sir or Madam,

Did OFSTED not see their Chief Executive at the Committee? I refer
to the deceit in the Baby P case when Haringey created the
impression to OFSTED that all was rosy at Haringey Children's
Social Care when it plainly wasn't. Mr Barry Sheerman talked to Ms
Gilbert in relation to this. The other questions are entirely self
explanatory. It seems that everyone in the country knows what data
is involved but OFSTED, who were deceived, doesn't.

Please treat this as a FoIA 2000 request.

Yours sincerely,

Tony

Tony left an annotation (24 December 2008)

Ofsted are clearly staffed just like any other public service. All mates with each other, all compliant as regards each other, all very "understanding" of each other, all taking heed of each other and ignoring the general public and basically being very secretive whenever possible.
