£100,000 per annum for 1300 license - average £75 per license.

Strangely they only mention OS licenses, though the request was for "Microsoft licenses". Particularly curious as they appear to have returned the information using Microsoft Office.

It would be very interesting to see comparative info for other authorities.

If this area is of interest to you, you might wish to look at the London Borough of Newham - they were all set to move their entire IT infrastructure to a Linux-based architecture, but following a "don't let it happen at any cost" intervention from Microsoft HQ in Redmond (USA), they inked a deal that was unprecedented in the UK, however I think you will find that, as a consequence, they will claim commercial sensitivity to prevent the release of the information.

See http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/09/09/... and earlier stories for the background (and the unanswered questions...).
