Dear Sir or Madam,

Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 I request the following
information regarding:

1. The Cabinet Office decision to merge the Office of Public Sector
Information (OPSI) with The National Archives (TNA) - reference
Cabinet Office Press Release 21 June 2006.
2. The involvement of the Cabinet Office in The National Archives
proposal to phase out The Office of Public Sector Information and
the OPSI brand and the impact that the proposed TNA actions will
have on the UK’s policy and implementation with respect to the
re-use of public sector information (Statutory Instrument 2005 No.
1515 – the UK transposition of the EU Directive 2003/98/EC).

Specifically, I need in relation to the Cabinet Office decision to
merge the OPSI with the TNA the following information to cover the
period April to October 2006.

1. A list of written documentation (including) emails that the
Cabinet Office (and OPSI whilst it was still part of the Cabinet
Office) received from the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) about the
concerns that the OFT had about the intended merger of OPSI with
the National Archives with regard to regulatory function of OPSI as
set out in SI 2005 No. 1515). The list to include date, origin of
the document, the Job Title of the submitter, Job Title to whom the
document was addressed the subject line of the document.

2. A list of written documentation (including) emails that the
Cabinet Office (and OPSI whilst it was still part of the Cabinet
Office) sent to the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) about the concerns
that the OFT had about the intended merger of OPSI with the
National Archives with regard to regulatory function of OPSI as set
out in SI 2005 No. 1515). The list to include date, origin of the
document, the Job Title of the submitter, Job Title to whom the
document was addressed the subject line of the document.

Specifically, I need in relation to the phasing out of the OPSI
brand and The Office of Public Sector Information the following
information to cover the period from the 1 July 2009 up to the time
this request is answered.

3. A list of written documents (including emails) received by the
Cabinet Office from The National Archives – the list to include
date, origin of the document, position of the submitter (that is
Job Title), to whom the document was addressed (that is Job Title),
the subject line of the document.

4. A list of written documents (including emails) sent by the
Cabinet Office to the National Archives – the list to include date,
position of the author, the position of the person(s) to whom the
document was addressed in The National Archives, the subject line
of the document.

5. A list of meetings held between one or more of the Directors of
The National Archives and the Cabinet Office. List to include:
date, place and position of the people involved in the meeting.

I would prefer to receive the information electronically.

If the decision is made to withhold some of this information using
exemptions in the Act, I would be grateful if you would please
inform me and cite the exemptions used.

If you need any clarification then please contact me via email.

Under your section 16 duty to provide advice and assistance I would
expect you to contact me if you find this request unmanageable in
any way.
