Meetings With Area Committee Chairs on Policing

The request was successful.

Dear Cambridge City Council,

At Cambridge City Council's Strategy and Resources committee on Monday the 10th of October 2011 the leader of the council revealed the existence of regular meetings she held with the Executive Councillor for policing, Cllr Bick, and the chairs of the city's area committees on the subject of policing.

Could you please release the meeting papers (reports, agendas, minutes, etc) for such meetings which have been held to-date in 2011 and release the dates, times, and locations of any future meetings planned and let me know if they are open to the public.

When I asked the police, on 4th October "...I note that the West/Central NAG in September mentioned a meeting with councillors to discuss enforcement of the 20mph limit. Can you tell me whether this meeting taken place yet?"
I received the reply, on the 5th October, that it has not taken place.

Dear Mr Taylor

In response to your FoI below:

"Dear Cambridge City Council,

Answer:
The report to Strategy and Resources Committee on 10th October (Agenda
Item 10) makes reference to a Member Working Group in paras 1.2, 3.16,
4.7 and Appendix 1. The remit of this cross-party Group is to look at
devolving decisions to the Area Committees and to deliberate the
learning points from the North Area Committee pilot. Specific policing
priorities for local areas are not discussed at these meetings, rather
the way in which policing priorities are discussed has cropped up
occasionally in the context of the agenda management of Area Committees
and how to manage placing more business on Area Committee agendas. For
instance, it was noted that policing priorities are discussed and agreed
differently in other Cambridgeshire districts.

The Working Group is an informal, cross-party and internal meeting,
chaired by the Director of Customer and Community and has met on six
occasions in 2011, with a further one due on 29 November, no other dates
have been scheduled as yet. The meetings of the Working Group are not
open to the public, however all the papers for the meetings held so far
are attached as per your request. Any conclusions of the Working Group
are fed into the reports on the Area Committee Pilot to the Strategy and
Resources Committee with the next report expected in July 2012.
