Dear Accesstoinformation,

I am suprised to hear that freedom to information may incur costs,
given that all these departments are funded through public taxation
already?

Yours sincerely,

Kevin Allcock (911 was an Inside Job)

Dear Mr Allcock,

I am writing to let you know that the Council does not hold the
information that you requested on 19 February 2009. Jack Straw MP has
not claimed expenses from Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council. You
may want to contact Parliament to request this information.

If you are unhappy with the service you have received from the Council
in relation to your request and wish to make a complaint or request a
review of our decision, you should write to Susan Smith at the address
at the bottom of this message. If you are not content with the outcome
your complaint, you may apply directly to the Information Commissioner
for a decision. Generally, the Information Commissioner cannot make a
decision unless you have exhausted the complaints procedure provided by
the council. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at: The
Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow,
Cheshire SK9 5AF.

You also asked about charging for dealing with Freedom of Information
requests. Section 9 of the Freedom of Information Act allows a public
authority to charge a fee for providing information in response to a
request. You can find out more about this on the Information
Commissioner's website via this link:
