Mapping data available under Freedom of Information requests

Thank you for your email dated 15 August 2008 requesting: `Please could
you tell me what data I could obtain from the Ordnance Survey under a
Freedom of Information request?

I am aware that the data is used to generate maps that are for sale, but
if possible, I would like, in electronic format, that underlying data that
goes to create the maps.

For example, if you had (and it must be held by the OS) the grid locations
for every mains pylon in the country. (If you do have this information,
could you supply this to me within this request.)

If I can't obtain any data from the OS, could you outline the reasons why
this data isn't available.'

I can confirm that Ordnance Survey does hold this information, however I
regret to inform you that your request falls within the Information
accessible to applicant by other means exemption under section 21 (2) (a)
of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA). We believe this exemption
applies because the information requested (including that stated as an
example) is available as part of the OS MasterMap(R) Topographic layer
which is available under licence from Ordnance Survey via our online
