Dear Belinda,
Thank you very much for those useful links. I can confirm that
managed realignment, as described in those links, is the subject I
am interested in, and is the same thing that I referred to as
"managed retreat".
Please go ahead and process my request on that basis.
Yours sincerely,
Susan Davis

Dear Susan
I hope you are well.
I believe my colleague Stacey contacted you on the 13th October with
clarification for you request.
Can you please let us know if you still require any information please.
I have included the email sent to you below:
We can provide a list of intertidal habitat creation sites completed
between 1991 and 2008. The information includes site name, area, date
created and type of land the existed previous to habitat creation. This
information is freely available from the internet if you know where to
look.
We cannot provide a current list of potential intertidal habitat creation
sites at this time. This is for two reasons:
1. At the moment, we are in the middle of Flood Risk Management business
planning and it will be a few months yet before I know what the programme
of habitat creation is likely to be.
2. The policy of withdrawing maintenance from sea walls may well result in
some intertidal habitat creation. However, in most cases we currently do
not know where maintenance of sea walls is likely to stop. The development
of the second generation of Shoreline Management Plans which won't be
completed until 2010 will help define this.
Please let me know if you want the list of existing intertidal creation
sites.
Kind Regards
