Lying

Trevor R Nunn made this Freedom of Information request to Local Government Ombudsmen

The request was refused by Local Government Ombudsmen.

From: Trevor R Nunn

23 November 2008

Dear Sir or Madam,

I would like to know how many times over the last 10 years that the
Local Government Ombudsman has brought evidence to the attention of
a public authority that proves one of their staff has lied during
an investigation.

I would also like the names of the authorities concerned.

Yours faithfully,

Trevor R Nunn

The LGO investigates complaints against a council and not individual members of staff. However, it can only be a member of staff who commits an act of maladministration, therefore, members of staff are in the unique position of being able to derail any investigation of their council by lying to the LGO. It's a statistical impossibility that this has never happened.

The LGO must be frightened of this one because it's one of the very few they haven't acknowledged.

Visit my blog to find out why I submitted this Freedom of Information request. As a result of the LGO's response to my FOI request I decided to ask every single council a similar question. When I have received all the responses and collated them I will publish on my blog.
