Lusitania Medallion;Imperial War Museum;Board Chairman's letter

Robert G.Wright. made this Freedom of Information request to Department for Culture, Media and Sport

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Department for Culture, Media and Sport should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

From: Robert G.Wright.

18 June 2009

Dear Sir or Madam,
As a result of no disclosure of substance being supplied on this
case by the DCMS a letter was sent to the Chairman of the Board at
the Imperial War Museum (IWM).This correspondence was dated 29 May
2009. A positive identification of the medallion belonging to my
father by a close family member (MGW) at the IWM on 31 July 2008
seems to have been overlooked by the IWM and the DCMS. A failure to
address constructive and substantial evidence supporting our claims
supplied in a REPLY document (January 2008) is also puzzling. The
IWM’ s own photographic evidence in this document undermines their
case. The REVIEW (November 2007) of our case requested specifically
by the Board Chairman and compiled by two IWM Trustees (MI/FR) has
serious flaws, due to the omission of evidence involving the then
Director General ,Sir Robert Crawford. Furthermore, F o I
oversights by the Museum, particularly with regard to restorative
work on the medallion and noted by my brother (MGW) in late July
2008 are unexplained. These facts were documented in my letter to
Sir Peter Squire,IWM Board Chairman. A reply from the IWM Board
Chairman of 3 June 2009 stated that the contents of my letter had
been noted. Could the DCMS under the Act please give disclosure
with regard to any correspondence from the IWM or the Board
Chairman on this case that they have received within the last 40
days.

Yours faithfully,

Robert G.Wright.
