Lost or Missing Original Post Office Saving Account Application Forms
Thomas Farrell made this Freedom of Information request to Postal Services Commission
Postal Services Commission did not have the information requested.
From: Thomas Farrell
13 February 2009
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request
the number of original missing or lost Post Office Saving account
application forms sent via the Post Office to the Post Office
Financial Services.
Yours faithfully,
Tom Farrell

Dear Sir or Madam,
My Post Office (PO) Saving Account application form was lost in
transit between the PO and the Post Office Financial Services
(POFS). I have found out that if after 28 days the application form
has not arrived at the POFS they sent out a duplicate. There is no
intercommunication between the PO and POFS, no follow up, no
tacking carried out. The PO forward the application forms by
ordinary mail, as directed by the POFS, that means private and
confidential personal and banking details are not kept track of.
When asked they are 'too busy' and it is 'logistically impossible'
to track individual forms. The PO has the means i.e. special
delivery or courier bags for sensitive paperwork, which allow them
to be tracked. Why can't this or other similar system be used? The
present system is flawed. Fraud is at an all time high. The PO and
POFS have a duty of care to ensure my personal and banking details
are provided with adequate protection when in transit.
Yours sincerely,
Thomas Farrell
