Dear S Smith

Thank you for your request for information about communications between
Kent County Council's Chief Executive Peter Gilroy and Lord Laming.

The Council has found three records meeting the scope of your request.

1. In light of the Haringey/Baby P situation, Mr Gilroy wrote to Lord
Laming on 15 November 2008 enclosing a copy of his booklet: "A Personal
Perspective on the Future of Social Work and Social Care" and reminding
him of his experience in Child Protection and offering his
assistance. Copies of this booklet are available from our website
[1]http://shop.kent.gov.uk/mall/productpage...

2. Lord Laming replied on 29th November 2008 and a copy of his letter is
attached.

3. Mr Gilroy wrote again to Lord Laming on 11 December attaching a copy of
an article he had written entitled "A Life in Social Work" - (copy also
attached). The article was also published on the MJ (Municipal Journal)'s
website and in an edited version in that week's MJ magazine. There has
been no written reply to this letter but Peter was verbally invited to
attend a meeting on 21 January 2009 arranged by Lord Laming for what he
described as "key stakeholders" to discuss various topics related
to safeguarding children.

This is the full extent of the communication between the Chief Executive
and Lord Laming in recent years. Mr Gilroy hasn't corresponded with Lord
Laming by email as Lord Laming does not have an email address .

If you are unhappy with this response, and believe KCC has not complied
with legislation, please ask for a review by following our complaints
process; details can be found at this link
[2]http://www.kent.gov.uk/council-and-democ...
on our website. Please quote reference FOI/09/507.

If you still remain dissatisfied following an internal review, you can
appeal to the Information Commissioner, who oversees compliance with the
Freedom of Information Act 2000. Details of what you need to do, should
you wish to pursue this course of action, are available from the
Information Commissioner's website

Dear S Smith

Thank you for your email. Attached is a copy of the Chief Executive's 15th
November 2008 letter as requested. I have been advised that the subsequent
letter sent 11th December 2008 was in actual fact not a letter but simply
a compliment slip attached to the article sent to Lord Laming and a copy
of this compliment slip was not retained. Therefore, the Council cannot
provide you with a copy, as this information is not held.

If you are unhappy with this response, and believe KCC has not complied
with legislation, please ask for a review by following our complaints
process; details can be found at this link

Dear Sir or Madam,

Can you please confirm that is acceptable that Peter Gilroy could
be allowed 'to write a piece for the Conservative Shadow
Government' especially when Kent county council is Conservative
led?

Are not ceo staff supposed to be 'a' political in their duties?

This letter shows a clear conflict of interest as well as bad taste
in touting for additional or future work; whilst being on first
name terms with Lord Laming could be considered some what
convenient.

Yours sincerely,

S Smith

How very cosy, reading the other FOI requests this person is also a trained social worker, how the hell can he also write for the conservatives when he is the CEO of a Tory run council.

This beggars belief, probably does his own reviews into social services as well; where are the press/media on this?

Why has this website blocked my friend from using this site, fellow councilor in Kent, from posing on this site? are they trying to protect someone and have they been threatened by someone? It seems a bit strange if they have nothing to hide. The serious concerns raised by my colleague and friend with regard to the theft and trafficking of her family members seem to be being COVERED UP, in a blanket of secrecy. Could Common Purpose Graduates in Kent County Council and Free Masons in Kent CC Be COVERING UP SOME SINISTER CHILD ABUSE OPERATION?? I wonder how many other councils nationwide are doing the same?? I am very concerned!!
